Princess Cruises’ newest cruise ship, Majestic Princess is to be based in Australia from September 2018 and will no longer be sailing from China year-round as previously announced by Princess Cruises.
Majestic Princess is the first cruise ship which Princess Cruises have specifically designed from the Chinese cruise market. The 3,560-passenger ship is the third in the cruise line’s Royal-Class of ships and sister to Royal Princess and Regal Princess.

Pacific Pearl departed on its final cruise with P&O Cruises Australia on 27 March 2017, departing Auckland, New Zealand on a 16-night cruise.
During the 16-night cruise, Pacific Pearl will visit Gladstone, Airlie Beach, Yorkeys Knob, Cairns, Darwin, Komodo Island, Benoa, Bali, before finally arriving in Singapore on 12 April 2017. Cunard Line has announced that its 2,092-passenger cruise ship, Queen Elizabeth will spend two months in Australia in 2019.
Queen Elizabeth will offer a total of seven cruises from Sydney and Melbourne. It will be the first time that Cunard Line have based one of its ships in Australia.
Cunard Line’s magnificent flagship Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth visited Sydney in Australia on 25 February 2017 for a Royal Rendezouz.
Both of the ships were on their Cunard World Voyages. They visited Sydney some ten years after Queen Mary 2’s first visit to the city in 2007. Royal Caribbean International’s newest cruise ship, the 4,180-passenger Ovation of the Seas set sail from Sydney on 20 February 2017, for the last time during her inaugural season in Australia.
The 167,800 gross tonne, Ovation of the Seas arrived in Australia in December 2016. The cruise ship visited Fremantle, Adelaide and Hobart before arriving at her home port of Sydney on 15 December 2016. Ovation of the Seas then operated a series of cruises. The 1,546-passenger Pacific Dawn, which is operated by P&O Cruises Australia, has entered dry dock in Singapore, where it will undergo an extensive refurbishment before setting sail again in March 2017.
New features will be added to the Australian based cruise ship, including the cruise line’s first ever state-of-the-art waterpark, two waterslides, an improved buffet area and a modernised nightclub. Royal Caribbean International is to announce details about the 2018 – 2019 deployment for its fleet, which currently consists of 25 cruise ships, with an additional six new build cruise ships due to launch between 2018 and 2024.
The deployment of the Royal Caribbean International’s ships is expected to be announced in phases throughout March 2017 and April 2017. The opening scheduled for 2018 – 2019 deployment is as follows: Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced the deployment of its fleet of four ultra-luxury cruise ships, for 2018 and early 2019, offering a total of 113 different cruise itineraries. The ultra-luxury cruise ships will visit a total of 28 maiden ports of call.

The new ship, currently sailing as Dawn Princess with Princess Cruises, will be transferred to P&O Cruises Australia, joining the 5 other cruise ships in the fleet. Royal Caribbean International’s Ovation of the Seas arrived in Sydney, Australia for the first time on 15 December 2016. At 167,800 gross tonnes and with an overall length of 348 metres she is the largest cruise ship to ever visit Australia.
Ovation of the Seas first arrived in Australia earlier this month when it docked in Fremantle on 06 December. The ship then visited Adelaide on 11 December, Hobart on 13 December before arriving at her new homeport of Sydney on 15 December. |
