Princess Cruises has announced that Yao Ming and his wife, Ye Li, will be the Inaugural Cruise Ambassadors for the cruise line in China and will officially name the new Majestic Princess.
The ceremony and official naming will take place on board Majestic Princess in Shanghai on 09 July 2017, as the culmination of weeks of celebrations. The celebrations will uphold maritime traditions as well as featuring traditional Chinese, contemporary Chinese and western-inspired cultural performances.

The newest and largest cruise ship in the Princess Cruises fleet, Majestic Princess, made its maiden call to Marina Bay Cruise Centre in Singapore on 18 June 2017.
The ship arrived in Singapore, completing a 28-night cruise with started in Rome on 21 May 2017. Royal Caribbean International has unveiled future plans for the first Quantum Ultra-class ship to be based in the Asia-Pacific region.
Set to be launched in spring 2019, the yet-to-be-named ship will be the next evolution of the groundbreaking Quantum class and will join her sister ships, Quantum of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas. The announcement was made as Royal Caribbean unveiled its full roster of 2018-19 China, Singapore and Australia itineraries. Norwegian Cruise Line has taken delivery of its latest new cruise ship, Norwegian Joy. The ship was delivered to the cruise line from Meyer Werft at a ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany on 27 April 2017.
The 167,800 gross tonne Norwegian Joy is the latest ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway Plus class of cruise ships and has been specifically designed to cruise China and Asia. Norwegian Cruise Line has partnered with Scuderia Ferrari Watches on the first-ever racetrack at sea, debuting on their newest cruise ship designed for China, Norwegian Joy, launching in summer 2017.
Norwegian Cruise Line announced a partnership with Scuderia Ferrari Watches as a part of the entertainment and activities on board Norwegian Joy, its soon to-be-unveiled 3,850 passenger vessel. Norwegian Joy will be Norwegian Cruise Line's first purpose-built ship for the Chinese market, designed to deliver on the promise that guests will enjoy 'First Class at Sea' experiences. Norwegian Joy will home port in Shanghai and Tianjin, following a grand inaugural port tour leading up to a christening ceremony on June 27, led by her Godfather, 'King of Chinese Pop' Wang Leehom. Princess Cruises has taken delivery of its latest new build cruise ship, the 143,600 gross tonne Majestic Princess. The new cruise ship has been under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy and was delivery to Princess Cruises on 30 March 2017.
Majestic Princess is the first cruise ship which Princess Cruises have specifically designed from the Chinese cruise market. The 3,560-passenger ship is the third in the cruise line’s Royal-Class of ships and sister to Royal Princess and Regal Princess. The largest cruise ship ever built for Norwegian Cruise Line, the 167,800 gross tonne Norwegian Joy, was floated out from the construction hall at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany on 04 March 2017.
Norwegian Joy is the first ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet to have been specifically designed for the Chinese cruise market. The ship's striking hull art has been created by renowned Chinese artist, Tan Ping. Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced the deployment of its fleet of four ultra-luxury cruise ships, for 2018 and early 2019, offering a total of 113 different cruise itineraries. The ultra-luxury cruise ships will visit a total of 28 maiden ports of call.

The new 141,000 gross tonne cruise ship is the third in Princess Cruises’ Royal-class but unlike her sister ships, Royal Princess and Regal Princess, the newer Majestic Princess has been tailored for the Chinese cruise market. The keel laying ceremony for Dream Cruises’ second 151,300 gross tonne cruise ship, World Dream, took place at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany on 10 January 2017.
During the ceremony, block number 3, one of 92 blocks, which will make up the new cruise ship, was lowered into the dock and officially started the block assembly of World Dream. |
