Carnival Cruise Line has revealed plans for a nearly $200 million bow-to-stern makeover for Carnival Triumph in the spring of 2019 that will include renaming the ship to reflect its significant transformation.
The ship will join Carnival’s Sunshine class and will be named Carnival Sunrise after a two-month-long refurbishment that will take place in Cadiz, Spain, starting 01 March 2019. The makeover will see all of the cruise line’s wildly popular branded food, beverage and entertainment innovations added to the ship, as well as updates to all staterooms.
Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship the 133,500 gross tonne Carnival Horizon was christened in New York City on 23 May 2018 during an overnight gala event held on board the ship.
Carnival Horizon was named by its Godmother the Grammy award-winning music artist and acclaimed actress Queen Latifah.
Flooding on board the Carnival Cruise Line cruise ship Carnival Dream has affected over 50 staterooms. The flooding was caused by a burst water pipe on board the vessel on Deck 9.
The 128,000 gross tonne Carnival Dream was sailing from Belize to Cozumel when the flooding is believed to have occurred on 03 May 2018.
Carnival Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship, the 133,500 gross tonne Carnival Horizon set sail on its maiden voyage from Barcelona, Spain on 03 April 2018.
The 13-night Mediterranean cruise will visit Livorno, Florence-Pisa, Italy - Civitavecchia, Rome, Italy - Naples, Italy - Dubrovnik, Croatia - Corfu Island, Kerkyra, Greece - Messina, Taormina, Sicily, Italy - Valletta, Malta and Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy before arriving back to Barcelona on 15 April.

Carnival Cruise Line’s 1991-built Carnival Ecstasy has emerged from dry dock following a multi-million dollar refurbishment, which saw various new dining and beverage venues added to the ship.
The 2,056-passenger Carnival Ecstasy spent two weeks in dry dock in Freeport, Bahamas from 10 January – 24 January 2017.
Carnival Cruise Line has announced that its latest new cruise ship, Carnival Horizon, will offer cruises from Barcelona, New York and Miami during its maiden season next year.
The 133,500 gross tonne cruise ship will depart on its maiden voyage from Barcelona on 02 April 2018 and cruise the Mediterranean. Unlike her sister ship the Carnival Vista, the newer ship will offer just four cruises from Barcelona. The ship will then cross the Atlantic Ocean to New York in May 2018.
Carnival Cruise Line has announced that it will be repositioning three of the cruise line’s largest ships to cruise from new homeports in 2018.
The newest ship to join the fleet, the 133,550 gross tonne Carnival Vista, will move to Galveston in September 2018. The ship will offer seven-night cruises every Sunday, cruising to the western Caribbean, visiting ports of call such as Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
