Celebrity Cruises has announced that its second Edge-class ship, Celebrity Apex which is due to launch in April 2020, will debut in Southampton.
The ship which is currently under construction at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique in France will also be christened in Southampton.

Celebrity Cruises has revealed details about the entertainment that will be offered to guests aboard the cruise line’s newest ship, Celebrity Edge which is expected to launch in November 2018.
Entertainment on board the game-changing Celebrity Edge will raise the bar to even greater heights. The ship will feature the most technologically advance theatre and most production shows of any ship in the cruise line’s history.
Celebrity Edge, the first ship in a new class of cruise ships for Celebrity Cruises has returned to the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France after completing its first sea trials.
The ship left the shipyard on 29 July 2018 and spent three days at sea, cruising off the French coast. During the sea trails various important tests were undertaken, including testing the ship’s manoeuvrability and propulsion systems. Around 470 workers were on board during the sea trials.
Celebrity Edge, the first ship in a new class of cruise ships for Celebrity Cruises has set sail from the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.
The 129,000 gross tonne ship will accommodate 2,900 passengers and is expected to be delivered to Celebrity Cruises in November 2018.
The steel cutting for the second Edge-class ship for Celebrity Cruises took place at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France on 23 July 2018.
The 117,000 gross tonne ship was originally set to be named Celebrity Beyond but will now be named Celebrity Apex. The ship will be a sister to Celebrity Edge which is also currently under construction at the shipyard and expected to be delivered in October 2018.

The ship is being constructed at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France and is the first new class of ships for Celebrity Cruises in 10 years.

At an event in London on 17 May 2018 the cruise line revealed further details about The Spa which will be on board the exciting new cruise ship. Present at the event was Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President & CEO, Celebrity Cruises and Jo Rzymowska, Vice President, Celebrity Cruises, UK & Ireland and Asia.
The 2,886-passenger Celebrity Silhouette arrived in Southampton on 28 April 2018, replacing its sister ship Celebrity Eclipse which sailed from the UK ports for eight years.
The 122,000 gross tonne Celebrity Silhouette was launched in July 2011 and is the fourth of five ships in the Solstice-class of luxury cruise ships from Celebrity Cruises.
The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Eclipse has become the first cruise ship to ever homeport in Dublin, Ireland. The ship arrived at the port on 29 April 2018 and departed on its inaugural cruise from the Irish port the following day.
