The largest cruise ship ever built for Norwegian Cruise Line, the 167,800 gross tonne Norwegian Joy, was floated out from the construction hall at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany on 04 March 2017.
Norwegian Joy is the first ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet to have been specifically designed for the Chinese cruise market. The ship's striking hull art has been created by renowned Chinese artist, Tan Ping.

Royal Caribbean International is to announce details about the 2018 – 2019 deployment for its fleet, which currently consists of 25 cruise ships, with an additional six new build cruise ships due to launch between 2018 and 2024.
The deployment of the Royal Caribbean International’s ships is expected to be announced in phases throughout March 2017 and April 2017. The opening scheduled for 2018 – 2019 deployment is as follows: Princess Cruises’ latest new built cruise ship, Majestic Princess has successfully completed her sea trials off the coast of Italy.
The new 141,000 gross tonne cruise ship is the third in Princess Cruises’ Royal-class but unlike her sister ships, Royal Princess and Regal Princess, the newer Majestic Princess has been tailored for the Chinese cruise market. Katrin Gray formerly Miss Germany International, also known as Mermaid Kat, will make her first cruise debut on board Genting Dream, during a five-night Vietnam cruise departing on 22 January 2017.
Mermaid Kat is a free diving, scuba diving instruction, underwater stunt woman and professional mermaid! She has swan with dolphins, turtles, rays, whales and even sharks whilst wearing a mermaid tail and has appeared in television advertisements, films and music videos. Dream Cruises enrichment programme known as ‘Dreamscapes’ will feature a series of inspirational talks from Mermaid Kat. She will talk about her love of the underwater world and her pursuit to ensure the conservation of the world’s oceans. |
