TUI Cruises have taken delivery of its brand new cruise ship Mein Schiff 1. The ship was delivered to the cruise line on 25 April 2018 at Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
At 111,500 gross tonne Mein Schiff 1 is the largest ship ever built for TUI Cruises. The new ship measures 315 metres in length, 20 meters longer than the previous new build for TUI Cruises. The new ship also features an additional 180 passenger staterooms, with a double occupancy guest capacity of 2,894.

Carnival Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship, the 133,500 gross tonne Carnival Horizon set sail on its maiden voyage from Barcelona, Spain on 03 April 2018.
The 13-night Mediterranean cruise will visit Livorno, Florence-Pisa, Italy - Civitavecchia, Rome, Italy - Naples, Italy - Dubrovnik, Croatia - Corfu Island, Kerkyra, Greece - Messina, Taormina, Sicily, Italy - Valletta, Malta and Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy before arriving back to Barcelona on 15 April.
Earlier this month it was announced that Cruise & Maritime Voyages had acquired Pacific Eden from P&O Cruises Australia. Cruise & Maritime Voyages then invited its valued Columbus Club members and trade partners to vote and participate in the re-naming of the vessel.
The choices were Pytheas, Vasco da Gama, Henry Hudson and Amerigo Vespucci, each fitting with the other explorer themed names currently used by ships in the Cruise & Maritime Voyages fleet.
Costa Cruises has announced that its oldest cruise ship in the fleet, Costa neoClassica has been sold and will be leaving the fleet in March 2018.
The 1,300-passenger cruise ship was launched in 1991. Costa Cruises did not state who the ship had been sold to.
The world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean International’s Symphony of the Seas, which was floated out of the dry dock at the STX shipyard in France earlier this month, could possible launch earlier than expected.
The new cruise ship is due to make her first voyage from Barcelona on 21 April 2018. Construction of the ship is currently ahead of schedule. The award-winning actress, author and producer, Dame Joan Collins is to be the godmother to the newest river cruise ship set to join the Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection fleet in March 2017.
The new river cruise ship, S.S. Joie de Vivre has been designed to cruise the Seine River and will be based in Paris, docking in the heart of the French capital. The 128-passenger ship will reflect all things French, from French cuisine and wine, to art, music and design. Royal Caribbean International is to announce details about the 2018 – 2019 deployment for its fleet, which currently consists of 25 cruise ships, with an additional six new build cruise ships due to launch between 2018 and 2024.
The deployment of the Royal Caribbean International’s ships is expected to be announced in phases throughout March 2017 and April 2017. The opening scheduled for 2018 – 2019 deployment is as follows: Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced the deployment of its fleet of four ultra-luxury cruise ships, for 2018 and early 2019, offering a total of 113 different cruise itineraries. The ultra-luxury cruise ships will visit a total of 28 maiden ports of call.

Seabourn has announced that the maiden voyage of the new 40,350 gross tonne ship will depart Venice on 05 May 2018. The 35-day cruise will visit 27 ports of call, including Dubrovnik, Valletta, Barcelona and the Isles of Scilly and Dartmouth in the United Kingdom. The cruise will end in Amsterdam. The new MSC Seaview which is due to launch in May 2018 is set to head to Brazil in winter 2018-2019, after completing her debut cruise season in the Mediterranean, sailing from Genoa on 7-night cruise itineraries.
MSC Splendida will no longer be re-positioned to China year-round as previously announced. The ship will now cruise from Dubai on 7-night cruises visiting Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Qatar. |
