MSC Cruises has announced that is has confirmed and signed the final contacts with Fincantieri shipyard for the construction of four luxury cruise ships.
Each of the four ships will have a gross tonne of 64,000 and feature the very latest state-of-the-art maritime and environmental technologies.

Seabourn has announced the name of its first ultra-luxury purpose-built expedition ship which is set to launch in June 2021.
The 23,000 gross tonne vessel will be named Seabourn Venture, which according to the cruise line draws on its heritage in providing expedition experiences.
The 2000-built cruise ship Celebrity Millennium has emerged from dry dock in Singapore following an extensive refurbishment, part of the cruise line’s $500 million Celebrity Revolution project.
The 2,038-passenger cruise ship is the first in the Celebrity Cruises fleet to undergo the Celebrity Revolution. The ship emerged from dry dock with the cruise line’s new livery, featuring a dark blue hull, like that seen on the cruise line’s newest ship, Celebrity Edge.
Attention all Shipping at 00.00hrs July 5, 2019: The iconic names broadcast on BBC Radio 4’s British Isles Shipping Forecast will ring out on Saga’s new ship Spirit of Discovery with eight suites named after the areas Bailey, Fair Isle, FitzRoy, Hebrides, Humber, Lundy, Thames and Trafalgar.
A nod to Saga Cruises’ heritage also sees the ship’s four top suites honour inspiring names including company founder Sidney de Haan OBE. Mr de Hann (1919-2002) built the company from a small hotel in Folkestone in 1951 to become the best-known UK company for the over-50s.
Cunard has introduced a new dining concept across its fleet of three ships. The new concept, ‘Steakhouse at the Verandah’ was trialed aboard the company’s flagship, Queen Mary 2 but has now been introduced on board Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.
The ships’ teams of chefs have curated a menu which takes influence from both sides of the Atlantic, showcasing Prime USDA grain finished New York Strip steak, Maine lobster and Alaskan king crab, as well as dishes celebrating British provenance such as Scotch grass fed dry aged beef and Salt Marsh lamb rack. The new menu also features offerings from other destinations further away such as renowned Wagyu Beef from Australia also feature.
Oceania Cruises has announced plans to build two brand new cruise ships. The new Allura Class ships will be constructed at the Fincantieri Shipyard, in Trieste, Italy.
The cruise line currently has plans to build two ships, with first expected to launch in 2022, whilst the second ship will debut in 2025. The last new-build cruise ship for Ocean Cruises was Riviera, which launched in 2012.
Celebrity Cruises has releveled that its second Edge class ship, Celebrity Apex, which is due to launch in 2020, will offer five cruises to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, ranging from seven to ten nights.
Celebrity Apex will be christened in Southampton, UK in April 2020 before repositioning to Barcelona and Civitavecchia (Rome) to continue its inaugural season in Europe.
Saga Cruises has announced that its first ever new-build cruise ship, Spirit of Discovery, will be named in its home port of Dover on 05 July 2019.
The boutique luxury cruise ship will be the first cruise ship to be christened in Dover for more than a decade, following the completion of stages 1&2 of the £250 million redevelopment of Dover Western Docks.
