On 28 June 2018 the keel laying ceremony of Regent Seven Sea Cruises new ultra-luxury cruise ship, Seven Seas Splendor took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy.
The new ship will be a sister ship to Seven Seas Explorer and is expected to launch in 2020. The 55,000 gross tonne Seven Seas Explorer will accommodate 750 passengers.

Silversea Cruises has completed one of the biggest endeavours ever taken on a luxury cruise ship. The ultra-luxury cruise lines’ Silver Spirit was cut in two at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo and extended by 15 metres (49 feet).
The lengthened ship left the shipyard on 03 May 2018 having spent 53 days in dry-dock at the Italian shipyard. Around 1,000 highly skills shipyard workers and contractors worked on the project.
The ultra-luxury cruise line Seabourn has taken delivery of its newest ship, Seabourn Ovation. The brand new 604-passenger ship was delivery on 27 April 2018 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Sestri, Genoa in Italy.
The new 40,350 gross tonne ship is a sister which to Seabourn Encore which was delivered to Seabourn in December 2016.
The next new ultra-luxury cruise ship for Seabourn, the 40,350 gross tonne Seabourn Ovation was floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa on 01 September 2017.
The 600-passenger Seabourn Ovation is expected to launch in Spring 2018 and will be a sister ship to Seabourn Encore. Silversea Cruises has taken delivery of its brand new cruise ship, Silver Muse. The ship was delivered to the ultra-luxury cruise line from the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa, Italy on 03 April 2017.
At 40,700 gross tonnes, Silver Muse is the largest cruise ship ever built for the ultra-luxury cruise line and is the first new build for Silversea Cruises in seven years. |
