Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, Disney Believe, has reached a major construction milestone with the first of three giant gigablocks floated out at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany.
The 31,000-tonne section, which forms the ship’s midship area, was moved from the shipyard’s covered building dock on September 18. The massive section already contains elements including walls, plumbing and electrical systems.
The next stages will see the forward and aft sections constructed before the three gigablocks are joined together to form the completed ship.
Disney Believe will become the fourth ship in Disney Cruise Line’s Wish Class, following Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny. The approximately 144,000-gross-ton ship is expected to accommodate around 4,000 guests at double occupancy.
The ship will feature a number of Disney-themed venues and experiences, with Moana serving as the inspiration for its Grand Hall. Other stories expected to feature onboard include Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Little Mermaid.
Disney Believe will also feature Woody and Buzz Lightyear on its stern, while Tinker Bell and Peter Pan will appear on the bow. The ship is scheduled to enter service in late 2027, with Disney Cruise Line expected to reveal further details about its itineraries and homeport in October. The latest construction milestone marks another step toward the arrival of Disney’s next new cruise ship.
