Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has unveiled a one-of-a-kind, 87-night Grand Voyage to the Amazon and Antarctica in 2028, offering the only opportunity to experience both regions on a round-trip sailing from the UK.

The new voyage, which goes on sale tomorrow (22nd July), will see Borealis depart Southampton on 5thJanuary 2028 for an 87-night adventure. Calling at 28 ports across 17 countries and five continents, the sailing combines some of the world's most remarkable natural landscapes, wildlife and cultures into one unforgettable journey.

Highlights of the voyage include immersive cruising along the Amazon River, with calls at Manaus and Santarém, offering the chance to discover one of the world's most biodiverse ecosystems. The journey then continues south, rounding Cape Horn, before three days of scenic cruising in the Antarctic Peninsula, where guests may spot penguins, seabirds and other wildlife from the deck of smaller ship Borealis.

Overnight stays in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires allow plenty of time to explore, while calls to Samaná Bay and Dominica showcase the Caribbean’s unspoilt natural beauty, with opportunities for memorable whale‑watching encounters.

Martin Lister, Head of Product Innovation at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: “This is an incredible journey, carefully crafted to bring together some of the world’s most extraordinary places on one round-trip sailing from the UK.

“This is our first return to the Amazon for nine years, and has been designed to offer something truly distinctive, with scenic cruising along one of the world’s greatest rivers, bringing guests closer to the rainforest and its diverse wildlife, from colourful birdlife to pink river dolphins.

“In contrast, Antarctica offers the chance to experience a region few ever visit, with three days of scenic cruising past ice-strewn waters, vast glaciers and snow-capped peaks.

“Combined with time in some of South America’s most iconic cities and across the Caribbean, this is a journey designed to offer both depth and variety, with memorable experiences throughout.”

Bookings made by 19th August 2026 can take advantage of Fred. Olsen’s Freedom Fare Price Promise, offering the reassurance that the cruise will not be available at a better price within the first four weeks of going on sale. During this period, solo guests can also benefit from a selection of cabins with no single supplement.
A Freedom Fare also includes a considered range of benefits for guests, including full-board dining with selected drinks at lunch and dinner, entertainment and enrichment talks, complimentary shuttle buses in selected ports, and access to the fitness centre and classes, as well as port taxes, fees and gratuities, and Fred. Olsen’s Satisfaction Guarantee.
