Meyer Turku Shipyard Completes Hull Assembly of Hero of the Seas

Construction of Royal Caribbean International’s new mega cruise ship, Hero of the Seas, is progressing well at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.

The shipyard has now completed the hull assembly of the 250,800 gross tonne cruise ship, which is set to debut in August 2027. Hero of the Seas is the fourth Icon-Class ship which has been built at the yard.

​The final block was lifted into place in July 2026. The shipyard is now moving forward outing the ship ahead of its sea trials.
 
Kalle Hyytiä, Project Manager, Meyer Turku, said:  “Construction of the vessel is progressing rapidly. Next, our focus will shift to the float-out and ensuring the vessel is ready for commissioning”.
 
Hero of the Seas will offer seven-night cruise sailing to the Caribbean and Bahamas, setting sail from Miami, Florida. The ship will visit Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

​A further two Icon-Class ships are scheduled to enter service in 2028 and 2030. Royal Caribbean signed a long-term agreement with Meyer Turku in 2025, which secures the right to build cruise ships at the shipyard through the next decade.
