In this guest blog post, travel lovers Paul and Carole from Paul and Carole Love to Travel, share with us 5 reasons why you should book a cruise to Asia and discover this amazing part of the world.
Beaches
We love spending time on the beach on our travels and there are plenty to choose from in Asia. A perfect day for us consists of chilling on the beach, enjoying snacks from the beach sellers then enjoying a beer and watching the sun go down. Life doesn’t get much better than that! If you can pick a cruise with an overnight stay then that will really enhance the experience.
Food
We love the flavours of Asian food. We are real fans and could live on Thai food so fragrant and delicious and the Singapore Chilli Crab is something everyone should try. However, if you are worried about food preferences then western food is available and we have also spotted some vegan options on menus too. We love visiting the local markets and trying the different foods available, but are not so keen on the bugs!
People
The people that we have met have very little but they give so much, and it is this that has made our visits special. In Singapore local people will often stop you and ask if you need any help which was very strange at first but their intentions are genuine. We have also found this in Malaysia and Thailand, however, do note that the majority of people have good intentions but there are always those that don’t. Cruise ship passengers are easy targets so we would advise researching scams in the countries that you are visiting so you are prepared and don’t have a bad experience.
Culture
Learning about cultures that are so different to ours is not only fascinating but educational too. You are never too old to learn and we love learning new things. We always respect the country we are visiting and ensure we have this knowledge prior to arriving. It is important you dressed appropriately when visiting temples and places of worship. We always try and add a stay on both ends of our cruises this enable you to have more time to explore this fascinating part of the world.
Weather
We are from England where it is cold and wet most of the time so travelling around Asia where it is predominantly warm really appeals to us. The weather is diverse throughout Asia, however travelling out of season does have its benefits with attractions and popular venues being less crowded which often leads to a better experience.
