An update on the impact of the latest Covid-19 variant, Omicron, has been provided by the Royal Caribbean Group, the parent company of a handful of the world’s leading cruise lines.
The cruise giant stated that more infectious variant has caused significant problems, leading to cruise booking cancellations and disruption for the company. Ormicron is becoming the dominant strain in many countries around the world.
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has officially christened its second of three new luxury expedition ships, Hanseatic Inspiration at a ceremony in Hamburg on the River Elbe on 11 October 2019.
The youngest person to circumnavigate the globe single-handed, Laura Dekker, was chosen to be Godmother, who took part in the traditional champagne bottle smashing on the ships bow. Around 230 VIP guests were invited to the naming ceremony by Hapag- Lloyd Cruises.
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has taken delivery of the 16,100 gross tonne Hanseatic Nature from the Vard shipyard in Norway.
The 230-passenger vessel is the first of three ships from the cruise line. The second, Hanseatic Inspiration will launch in October 2019, whilst the third Hanseatic Spirit is due to join the fleet in 2021.
