Portsmouth is to lose around 40% of its trade from cruise ships visiting the port, following the news that Voyages of Discovery and Swan Hellenic have gone into administration.
The two cruise lines, which operated the 540-passenger Voyager and the 335-passenger Minerva, were due to call at Portsmouth International Port in 2017 and 2018. The cruise line operators, Voyages of Discovery and Swan Hellenic have ceased trading, with some 13,000 passengers future cruise holidays being cancelled. The two cruise lines were part of the All Leisure Holidays group.
Approximately 7,000 future cruise bookings have been cancelled. All Leisure Holidays have already made plans to fly the 400 passengers currently overseas back to the United Kingdom. The 540-passenger Voyager operated by Voyages of Discovery is currently in Malaysia, whilst the smaller 335-passenger Minerva is docked in Marseille. |
