Silversea Cruises has announced plans for their biggest refurbishment project to date. The fleet-wide project will see the luxury cruise line spend $170 million. “We pride ourselves on being the reference when it comes to ultra-luxury cruising and this investment reflects our long-term commitment in this regard toward our ships, our guests and our crew” said , Manfredi Lefebvre, the Chairman of Silversea Cruises. Before the end of 2016, Silver Whisper, which operates the cruise line’s world cruises, will undergo an extensive refurbishment. The planned changes are largely due to the feedback from world cruise passengers. Work is expected to be complete ahead of the ship’s 2017 world cruise.
The ultra-luxury suites will be refurbished and the bathrooms will be decorated with dark emperor marble flooring. The pool area will be retiled and new chaise loungers will improve the levels of comfort and style in the outdoor spaces on board. Lavish new carpets and elegant hard-wood flooring will be added to The Restaurant and La Terrazza. Both venues will also get new furniture that Silver say will convey contemporary glamour. Internet speeds on board will be improved with the addition of a pair of satellite antenna, whilst new interactive televisions will be added to all suites. Like, Silver Whisper, in October, Silver Wind will see similar improvements and changes. The cruise line’s expedition ship, Silver Discoverer will also enter dry-dock in September. The Restaurant is to be transformed and the pool grill will receive new furniture. The Discoverer Lounge is to be transformed into a sophisticated lounge to relax and read, whilst new audio-visual technology along with further new furniture will improve the Explorer Lounge where passengers attend lectures. Silver Cruises has said that further information about the refurbishment project will be announced in due course.
