AIDA Cruises has taken delivery of its latest new cruise ship, AIDAperla. The ship was delivered from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagaski, Japan.
The 124,100 gross tonne ship is the second new cruise ship for AIDA Cruises which has been constructed in Japan and is a sister ship to AIDAprima which launched in 2016.
AIDAperla is expected to set sail from Japan and cruise from Asia to the Mediterranean. The ship will be officially christened in Palma de Mallorca by model and presenter Lena Gercke on 30 June 2017.
Felix Eichhorn, President, AIDA Cruises, said: “With the successful commissioning of AIDAprima in May 2016, we have inspired many guests for a cruise vacation. For the first time, more than 2 million Germans have decided to go cruising. With the sister ship AIDAperla we will be injecting further important growth momentum into the German vacation market. Today, with our 12 ships sailing on 130 different routes to more than 250 ports worldwide, we offer the greatest vacation diversity and we will inspire even more holidaymakers for one of the most beautiful ways of travelling.”
