Carnival Cruise Line has announced that the second Vista-class ship will be named Carnival Horizon. The 3,936-passenger ship is under construction at Fincantieri's Marghera shipyard and will weigh in at 133,500 gross tonnes.
"The name Carnival Horizon not only reflects the ship's unique connection with the sea with so many spectacular indoor and outdoor spaces but also the boundless array of options that guests of all ages are sure to enjoy," Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, said in a news release.
Due to debut in March 2018, Carnival Horizon will offer many of the same amenities as her sister ship, Carnival Vista, including the SkyRide, an IMAX theater, the WaterWorks aqua park, RedFrog Pub & Brewery, Alchemy Bar and Carnival's Seuss at Sea children's programme. The ship will also offer the two newest accommodation categories, the Havana and Family Harbour cabins, which debuted on Carnival Vista, .
Carnival Horizion will launch in Europe with more details about the ship's home port and cruise itineraries to be revealed at a later date.
