Ben Clement, Senior Vice President of Newbuilds, Carnival Cruise Line, said: “We took a unique approach to our stateroom design with Mardi Gras, utilizing DCA Design International, which is well known for innovative product design and partnered them with Miami-based interior architect Studio Dado. DCA employed a thoughtful guest-centric approach gleaned from observations of how our guests use their space in conjunction with their vast experience in product design to make the staterooms as comfortable and functional as possible.”

The new stateroom designs for Mardi Gras include:
  • Floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors on nearly all balcony staterooms for easy access
  • New ‘flip’ sofas which quickly and easily transform into a sofa bed
  • Foot stools which open up for additional storage
  • Clear glass doored mini-refrigerators
  • More 110V power outlets and UBS connections on the vanity and bedside
  • More shelf space for electronic devices
  • Adjustable bedside reading lamps
  • Large customizable wardrobe with two pull-out bins, a sliding shoe rack and folding shelves
  • Under bed storage for luggage

Stateroom bathrooms will feature glass shower doors, the first time Carnival Cruise Line has offered this on any of its ships. Showers will also feature an in-shower shaving bar.

The new cruise ship will offer the largest choice of accommodation of any ship in the Carnival Cruise Line fleet, with more than 70 percent of staterooms featuring ocean views or their own private balconies. Mardi Gras will also have 300 pairs of connecting staterooms, perfect for families or groups cruising together.

Mardi Gras will also feature the tropical-inspired Havana staterooms which were first introduced on the cruise line’s Vista-class of ships. These staterooms have access to an exclusive open deck with sun loungers, a Cuban-themed bar and swimming pool.

For families, the ship will offer spacious Family Harbor staterooms, with nautical-themed décor, all located near the children’s facility, Ocean Camp and with access to the exclusive Family Harbor Lounge. The venue offers a place for families to enjoy breakfast and snacks throughout the day, as well as board games, movies and video games!

Cloud 9 Spa staterooms on Mardi Gras will have their own custom-designed décor and include spa bathrobes, slippers and Elemis toiletries will be included.  These staterooms are located nearby the Cloud 9 Spa, providing easy access.

Mardi Gras will offer a total of 180 suites, varying in categories and size. Further details on the suite accommodations is expected to be announced in mid-April , including the premium level Carnival Excel Suites, which will offer guests a host of exclusive added extras.

Mardi Gras is due to join the Carnival Cruise Line fleet in August 2020, with her inaugural cruise leaving Europe and setting sail for New York, where the ship will offer a number of cruise itineraries. From October 2020, the ship will cruise year-round from Port Canaveral on seven-night Caribbean cruises.
