The luxury cruise ship Silver Whisper, operated by Silversea Cruises, recently emerged from dry-dock having undergone an extensive refurbishment, ready for her 117-night 2017 World Cruise.
The ultra-luxury suites were refurbished and the bathrooms were decorated with dark emperor marble flooring. The pool area was completely retiled and new chaise loungers have improved the levels of comfort and style in the outdoor spaces on board. In addition to this, two new whirlpools were added to the ship and new synthetic turf was added to the jogging track and outdoor spa decks.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages 1,250-passenger Magellan departed London Tilbury on 05 January 2017, setting sail on the first ever world cruise for the British based cruise operator. The 46,052 gross tonne cruise ship will circumnavigate the globe over four leisurely month, cruising via the West Indies, Panama Canal, French Polynesia, Australasia, South East Asia and the Far East, India, the Red Sea, Suez Canal and the Holy Land & Med before returning to London Tilbury on Friday 5th May 2017. The 121-night cruise will visit 43 ports of call. In January 2018, Cruise & Maritime Voyages new flagship Columbus will depart on a similar 121-night world cruise, visiting 40 ports of call.
Viking Cruises latest ocean cruise ship Viking Sun was floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy, marking a milestone in the construction process.
Viking Sun will become the fourth ocean cruise ship in the Viking fleet and is set to launch in November 2017. The third ship, Viking Sky is currently also still under construction and is set to launch in February 2017, joining the two other ships, Viking Star and Viking Sea. MSC Cruises have announced details of its first ever world cruise, on board the 91,128 gross tonne MSC Magnifica, which will depart Genoa in January 2019
The 119-night westbound cruise will cover more than 32,200 nautical miles and visit 49 ports of call in 32 countries. Destinations include cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Auckland, Sydney, Singapore and Dubai, as well as exotic and paradise islands including The Caribbean, Hawaii, French Polynesia, Fiji, Sri Lanka and The Maldives. |
