Viking Cruises latest ocean cruise ship Viking Sun was floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy, marking a milestone in the construction process.
Viking Sun will become the fourth ocean cruise ship in the Viking fleet and is set to launch in November 2017. The third ship, Viking Sky is currently also still under construction and is set to launch in February 2017, joining the two other ships, Viking Star and Viking Sea.
At the float out ceremony a silver dollar was welded to the ship. The Chairman of Viking Cruises, Torstein Hagen attended the ceremony joined by the Yi Lou, Vice President of China Merchant Bank Financial Leasing who was the ceremony Godmother.
Viking Sun will begin her maiden season cruising to Cube and the Caribbean before setting sail on a 141-night World Cruise which visits 5 continents, 35 countries and 66 ports of call.
