​Celebrity Cruises Cuts The Steel For Second Edge-Class Ship Re-Named Celebrity Apex

The steel cutting for the second Edge-class ship for Celebrity Cruises took place at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France on 23 July 2018.
 
The 117,000 gross tonne ship was originally set to be named Celebrity Beyond but will now be named Celebrity Apex. The ship will be a sister to Celebrity Edge which is also currently under construction at the shipyard and expected to be delivered in October 2018.

The brand is known for many industry firsts so it’s fitting that Celebrity Apex is the first to participate in a steel cutting ceremony under our new name Chantiers de l’Atlantique (previously STX France), another milestone of the great partnership we have built together.”
 
Celebrity Apex is expected to launch in spring 2020. Celebrity Cruises has a third and fourth Edge-class ship on order, both of which will also be constructed at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard. These are expected to launch in 2021 and 2022.
