​Celebrity Cruises Showcase Celebrity Edge In Southampton

Celebrity Edge, the newest and most advanced ship in the Celebrity Cruises fleet arrived in Southampton for the first time on 13 May 2019.
 
The ship launched in November 2019 and debut in the Caribbean before crossing the North Atlantic to Europe for her European debut.

The 129,500 gross tonne Celebrity Edge was welcomed into Southampton with a water cannon display as she made her way down the Solent to City Cruise Terminal.
 
For the first time ever, Celebrity Cruises took a ship out of revenue service and invited around 2,000 VIP guests, travel agents and the media on a two-night cruise.
 
Celebrity Edge anchored off the coast of Portsmouth and to show off the ship’s most striking feature, the ‘Magic Carpet’. The 70 tonne movable platform, which is cantilevered from the ship’s starboard side acts as a restaurant and bar but when on Deck 2 it is used as a tender embarkation platform. The tenders on board the ship are the most advanced and largest at sea.
 
Following the two-night cruise, Celebrity Edge returned to Southampton before embarking on a 10-night Iberian Peninsula cruise.
 
Celebrity Cruise has ordered a further four Edge class ships, the second, Celebrity Apex, which is to be named in Southampton, is due to launch in April 2020 . Celebrity Apex will also offer a series of cruises from Southampton. The other three vessels will enter service in 2021, 2022 and 2024.
