Celebrity Edge, the first ship in a new class of cruise ships for Celebrity Cruises has returned to the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France after completing its first sea trials.

The ship left the shipyard on 29 July 2018 and spent three days at sea, cruising off the French coast. During the sea trails various important tests were undertaken, including testing the ship’s manoeuvrability and propulsion systems. Around 470 workers were on board during the sea trials.
The 129,000 gross tonne ship will accommodate 2,900 passengers and is expected to be delivered to Celebrity Cruises in November 2018.

Celebrity Edge will offer cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean during her inaugural season. The new ship will feature many innovative features and some industry firsts.

Celebrity Edge will be followed by a further three Edge-class vessel. The second Celebrity Apex is expected to launch in spring 2020. The third and fourth as yet unnamed Edge-class ships on will also be constructed at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard and are expected to launch in 2021 and 2022.
