Cruise lines have been offering their help to the Bahamas following the devastating Hurricane Dorian.
Between the major cruise lines which are providing help, the major cruise corporations, including Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Carnival Corporation, MSC and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, have already committed over £4 million.
Hurricane Dorian was the most powerful storm to hit the Bahamas since records began and has left wingspread devastation with at least 43 dead and many more still missing.
The category five hurricane batted the island for three days as it moved at a painstakingly slow pace forward the east coast of the United States. Some areas of the Bahamas were hit by powerful sustained winds of 185 miles per hour, torrential rain and storm surges of up to 23 feet. Hurricane Dorian resulted in a total of twelve cruises being cancelled and others had to be altered with ports of calls cancelled. Some ports of call in the path of the category five hurricane were also been impacted. Many cruise lines are offering help following Hurricane Dorian, with cruise ships being used to deliver much needed food, water and supplies. President Trump has even asked cruise lines to offer assistance and provide short-term accommodation. Carnival Corporation
