Princess Cruises has announced that the 3,112-passenger Caribbean Princess will be the first cruise ship in the fleet to feature a brand new family-friendly splash zone.
The Reef Family Splash Zone will be added to the ship during its dry dock, scheduled to begin in May 2019. When the ship emerges, it will be the first in the Princess Cruises fleet to feature the new family-friendly venue.
Jan Swartz, President, Princess Cruises, said: “In our latest effort to enhance our family offerings, this newly reimagined space invites families and kids to experience a multi-functional area to engage, play, reconnect. The Reef is the ultimate spot for families of all ages to enjoy spending time together with new water features, recreational activities and lounge areas.”
The family-friendly splash zone will be located on Deck 17, towards the aft and will feature a splash pool, assorted water sprays and showers where families will be able to enjoy a day of splashing, laughing and playing. The highlight of the Reef Family Splash Zone will be a large interactive whale feature, which will squirt water. The new area will also feature a game zone, including oversized outdoor games such as Connect Four and Jenga, comfy loungers and a family friendly bar setting, where adults and children can enjoy cocktails and mocktails together. A large canopy will offer families a shaded area to relax in and be protected from the sun. In addition newly installed wind breaks will also provide added comfort. The existing main pool, spa area and adjacent bar will be updated to match, featuring new signage and artwork. Below the Reef Family Splash Zone, on Deck 16 the Camp Discovery outdoor play area will see the addition of a destination themed water table.
