The 168,666 gross tonne Odyssey of the Seas, which is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, has had a giant name painted on its hull.
The name painted on the bow of the ship measures more than 87 metres in length. That’s longer than eight double decker buses! The ‘O’ alone, in Odyssey of the Seas measures 11.2 metres in height.
Photographs of the giant name on the bow of the new Royal Caribbean International cruise ship were shared by the Meyer Werft shipyard.
The 4,200-passenger ship was originally due to debut in November 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic has delayed the construction and launch of the new ship.
Odyssey of the Seas is now expected to enter service in April 2021. The ship will homeport from Port Everglades, Florida.
