Guests on board Royal Caribbean International’s Explorer of the Seas enjoyed a magical view of the Perseid Meteor Shower this week as the cruise ship sailed towards Alaska.
The ship’s lights were dimmed especially to allow guests the best possible chance of seeing the meteor showers above the ship.
Explorer of the Seas was on route to Alaska on a seven-night cruise which departed Seattle. The low light levels at sea offered guests the perfect viewing conditions to stargaze and witness the incredible astrological phenomenon.
The Perseid Meteor Shower is visible from 17 July – 24 August. The meteor shower is associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle. During the peak of the of the meteor shower, between 11-13 August it is possible to see in exceed of 60 meteors an hour given the right light levels and weather conditions.
