Guest on board Cunard Line’s flagship Queen Mary 2 which will berth in Dubai on 18 April 2018 as part of the ocean liner’s world cruise will have the opportunity to join VIPs and local media at the opening of The QE2 Hotel.
The ship departed Southampton on her final voyage in November 2008, ending her sailing career in Dubai where the ship is now permanently berthed.
The former Cunard Line ocean liner was launched by Her Majesty The Queen in 1967 and entered service in 1969. In 1982 the ship was deployed as a troop ship during the Falklands War. During her nearly 40 years of service the ship sailed the equivalent distance of 14 times to the moon and back, undertaking 25 world cruises, 800 crossings of the North Atlantic and carrying more than 2.5 million passengers!

Nearly a decade later the ship is set to re-open as a floating hotel. The QE2 Hotel is expected to officially open in October 2018. The hotel includes 224 refurbished rooms and suites, an interactive exhibition on the QE2’s history, 13 restaurant and nightlife venues, a shopping arcade, spa, a theatre and cinema and 25 meeting rooms. Guests at the hotel can also expect to enjoy and take advantages of Dubai skyline and oceanic views, concierge services, complimentary shuttle bus services, airport transfers, travel and tourism services and valet services. Future guests on board the 2019 world cruise on Queen Mary 2 will also have the chance to visit the QE2 Hotel when the ship visits Dubai again in April 2019.
