Photographs have emerged which appear to show flooding on the upper decks of the 114,500 gross tonne Costa Pacifica.
The flooding to the open decks was caused due to sudden heavy rainfall on 24 January 2017, whilst the ship was berthed in Rio De Janeiro. No passengers or crew were injured as a result of the flooding.
The ship’s drainage system was unable to handle the amount of water which fell onto the upper decks but crew cleared the affected areas of the ship and pumped out the rain water.
Costa Pacifica is currently on a 9-day cruise, which departed Buenos Aires, Argentina on 21 January 2017.
