MSC Cruises has announced that it will be lengthening MSC Magnifica and basing the newly enhanced ship in Southampton for summer 2021.
According to MSC Cruises announcement demonstrates the cruise line’s commitment to the UK cruise market.
MSC Magnifica will undergo an extensive refurbishment and will be lengthened by some 23 metres, adding 7,000 square metres of new space. A total of 215 new cabins will be added to the ship, including the total number of balcony cabins to 63 percent.
The ship will also feature a new waterpark, a redesigned kid’s area as well as two new restaurants and an enlarged shopping area. MSC Magnifica will offer a total of 24 cruises from Southampton from May to October 2021, ranging from two to 14-nights. Cruise itineraries will include the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Baltic capitals. In addition to the interior improvements the ship will also feature advances in environmental sustainability, including a state-of-the-art selective catalytic reduction system to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions and an advanced wastewater treatment system. Cruises will go on sale on 12 September 2019, with prices starting from 149pp for the two-night mini cruise and £549pp for the seven-night Norwegian Fjords cruise.
