The 1992-built Royal Caribbean International cruise ship, Majesty of the Seas failed a recent safety inspection, which resulted in the ship being forced to stay in Port Canaveral overnight.
Majesty of the Seas was scheduled to depart Port Canaveral on 13 February 2017 on a five-night cruise to the Bahamas. During a safety inspection by the United States Coast Guard, several inadequate life jackets were found on board the Royal Caribbean International cruise ship.
In a statement Royal Caribbean International, said: “Yesterday, the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a routine inspection of Majesty of the Seas. They came across some technical issues, including some outdoor life jackets that were showing their age. We hope to have replacements join the ship today and we expect to address the other issues shortly.”
The 2,354-passenger cruise ship was forced to stay overnight in Port Canaveral until new life jackets were delivered to the ship. The itinerary of the current five-night cruise has been affected as a result of the delayed departure.
