​MSC Bellissima Departs On First Set Of Sea Trials

MSC Bellissima has set sail from the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France on her first set of sea trials.

The ship left the shipyard on the morning on 19 December 2018. The ship will return to the shipyard later this month before setting sail on further sea trials in 2019 ahead of its delivery.
MSC Bellissima is the second ship in the Meraviglia class of ships and will be a sister to MSC Meraviglia which launched in June 2017.
 
The 171,000 gross tonne ship which will carry up to 5,700 passengers and will be christen in Southampton, United Kingdom. It will be the largest ship ever to be christened in the UK. The ceremony will take place on 02 March 2019. The Godmother for the ship will be no other than the Italian actress Sophia Loren. The 83-year old has christened all of the cruise ships in the MSC Cruises fleet.
 
MSC Cruises will invite 2,000 guests to the christening in Southampton. MSC Bellissima will stay in Southampton for three days, allowing for around 3,000 travel agents and members of the press to sample the new ship before departing on its maiden voyage to Genoa.
 
MSC Bellissima will spend her inaugural season in the Mediterranean offering 7-night cruises to some of the region’s most popular ports before moving to the Emirates for Winter 2019/2020. ​
