MSC Cruises has unveiled details of its new state-of-the-art, multiple ship cruise terminal to be built at PortMiami.
The cruise line has received approval and will design and construct the new highly innovative cruise terminal. MSC Cruises will also be responsible for operating and maintaining the large building that will house the two cruise terminals as well as the two quayside cruise berths.
The two cruise terminals, to be known as AA and AAA, will be able to host two mega cruise ships simultaneously, handling up to 28,000 disembarking and embarking passengers a day.
Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, MSC Cruises, said: “With another 13 cruise vessels due to join our fleet in the next eight years, our ambition is to have our most innovative ship classes represented at PortMiami, bringing a wealth of choice to our North American as well as international guests. In particular, the new terminal – which will be one of the most innovative the industry has seen – will ensure that we can provide our guests an enhanced end-to-end high-quality experience while both embarking and disembarking, thus adding to their ability to fully enjoy every moment of their vacation.” MSC Cruises has a total of 13 new cruise ships on order, including four World Class ships, each with a passenger capacity of 6850. The new terminal at PortMiami will be capable of handling two such vessels simultaneously on turnaround day. Construction of the new cruise terminal is expected to begin in early 2020. MSC Cruises currently estimates that the terminals will be completed by late 2022.
