The first prototype ship in a new class of ships for MSC Cruises has completed its first sea trials ahead of its delivery. The 5,179-passenger, MSC Seaside is due to debut in November 2017.
The 160,000 gross tonne ship is being constructed at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The ship recently left the shipyard for the first time and successfully completed its first sea trials, which lasted 72-hours. The ship has now returned to the shipyard where construction and outfitting of the ship will continue.
The ship will home port in Miami and features a wide array of passenger amenities, including 11 dining venues, 19 bars and lounges, a 934-seat theatre, full size bowling alley, a 5D cinema, 4 waterslides, six swimming pools and an expansive spa and fitness centre. At 120 metres each, MSC Seaside also features the two longest zip-lines at sea!
Externally the ship’s unique design features a 360 degree promenade, two breath-taking panoramic glass lifts and two glass-floored catwalks. 73% of the accommodation offer balconies. The ship also offers 111 family cluster cabins, 14 exclusive Grand Suites and 28 luxury suites with balcony and whirlpool bath.
