The steel cutting ceremony for the second Quantum-Ultra class ship for Royal Caribbean International has taken place at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
At the steel cutting ceremony, which took place on 01 February 2019, the name of the new ship could clearly be seen at Odyssey of the Seas. The ship 168,666 gross tonne ship will be a sister ship to Spectrum of the Seas, which is due to launch in spring 2019.
Odyssey of the Seas will be the second class in Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum-Ultra class of ships and will launch in autumn 2020.
The new ship will accommodate up to 5,622 guests, in some 2,137 staterooms. Features on the new ship will include amenities from the Quantum Class ships, such as the Two70, SeaPlex, North Star and Ripcord by iFLY. In addition to these Odyssey of the Seas will also feature Sky Pad on the back deck next to the Flowrider surf simulator, with a glass floored walkway leading to it extending over the portside of the ship. Odyssey of the Seas will boast seven complimentary dining venues and 12 signature speciality restaurants, including favourites such as Chops Grille, Jamie’s Italian and Wonderland. Other amenities include the Royal Theatre, Casino, Rock Climbing Wall, Spa and Fitness Centre, Adventure Ocean Youth Area and many other exciting venues.
