Holland America Line has announced that its third Pinnacle Class ship, which is due to launch in May 2021, will be named Ryndam.
The ship will be a sister to Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam. The 99,500 gross tonne ship will accommodate 2,666 guests and will be the fourth ship in the cruise line’s fleet to have been named Ryndam. The first Ryndam launched in 1901 and the most recent ship to bear the name left the fleet in 2015.
Orland Ashford, President, Holland America Line, said: “Holland America Line honors the timeless tradition of cruising while also embracing new innovations for today’s travelers, and the name Ryndam reflects the unique history of this company while honoring previous ships that were progressive in their time as this last Ryndam will be. From the first Ryndam more than 100 years ago to the most recent, the namesake ships have been beloved by our guests. The next Ryndam will bring new life to one of the most notable series of vessels in our history.”
The new ship will feature some changes and improvements to the amenities offered. Ryndam is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. The steel cutting for the new ship took place on 13 May 2019.
