Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship, the 167,800 gross tonne Norwegian Bliss has arrived in Southampton for the first time, having been officially delivery to the cruise line on 19 April 2018.
The new ship arrived into Southampton on 21 April 2018, following a two-night preview cruise from Bremerhaven, Germany. Norwegian Bliss, which is the third Breakaway-Plus class ship, is the sixteenth ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet.
The 4,004-passenger ship will depart Southampton on its maiden voyage, a 13-night cruise to New York, visiting the Azores and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The ship which was constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany has been purpose-built for cruises in Alaska. It will spend its first summer offering seven-night cruises from its homeport of Seattle. During the winter months the ship will reposition to Miami, where it will offer seven-night cruises around the Caribbean. The ship boasts a huge array of innovative passenger amenities, including various bars and restaurants, a laser tag court, waterslides and a two-deck go-kart track. Norwegian Bliss also offer a new cabin category for solo travellers, with 82 inside staterooms featuring virtual ocean views. The Haven is twice as large as the one on Norwegian Escape, with a total of 80 suites. At the bow is a 20,000 square-foot Observation Lounge which will offer amazing 180-degree views, perfect for when cruising in Alaska. The hull art on Norwegian Bliss was designed by world renowned marine artist, Wyland.
