Norwegian Cruise Line has taken delivery of its latest new cruise ship, Norwegian Joy. The ship was delivered to the cruise line from Meyer Werft at a ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany on 27 April 2017.
The 167,800 gross tonne Norwegian Joy is the latest ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway Plus class of cruise ships and has been specifically designed to cruise China and Asia.
The new ship can accommodate 4,200 passengers and is the most technologically advanced cruise ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. The ship boasts the first ever racetrack at sea, a futuristic virtual reality area offering an array of activities for families.
28 dining options are spread out over the ship’s 20 passenger decks. The ship also features an expansive shopping district, waterslides, outdoor park on the top deck and four casinos, including one for VIPs and another for VVIPs.
Norwegian Joy is due to be officially named in Shanghai by Chinese pop star Wang Leeholm in June. The ship will offer cruises from Shanghai and Tianjin (Beijing).
