Carnival Cruise Lines has announced that the Grammy award-winning music artist, acclaimed television and film actress, author and entrepreneur, Queen Latifah will be Godmother to its newest ship, Carnival Horizon.

The newest addition to the Carnival Cruise Line fleet will be officially named in New York City on 23 May 2018 during an invitation-only gala overnight event on board Carnival Horizon.
Christine Duffy, President, Carnival Cruise Line, said: “With her fun-loving spirit and positive, can-do attitude, Queen Latifah embodies our brand and knows how to 'Choose Fun' in everything she does. Knowing that she is a long-time supporter of St. Jude and has performed and won 'Lip Sync Battle' made her the ideal candidate to serve as godmother to our newest ship”.

Queen Latifah, said: “Carnival is an iconic American brand and it's an honor to be named godmother of Carnival Horizon and take part in the event on May 23, honoring the special children of St. Jude – a cause that is very near and dear to my heart”.

The event on 23 May 2018 will also recognize the long-time Carnival Cruise Line partner St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with a cheque presentation from funds raised from various activities and events held by Carnival Cruise Line.

In addition Carnival Cruise Line will unveil its special custom-designed artwork created by more than 30 patients from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which will feature in the stunning three-deck-high LED centre piece in the atrium on Carnival Horizon, which is known as ‘Dreamscape’.

Carnival Horizon will being her summer season from New York from May until September, before repositioning to Miami where the ship will offer Caribbean cruises.
