​Refurbishment Of Independence Of The Seas Commences

Royal Caribbean International’s 3,634-passenger cruise ship, Independence of the Seas arrived at the Grand Bahama shipyard in Freeport, Bahama on 04 April 2018 to being its refurbishment.
 

The ship will spend around a month in dry-dock whilst the refurbishment work is carried out. During this time many changes will take place on board, including the addition of new staterooms and suites as well as exciting new passenger venues. Some existing passenger venues will also be relocated or removed to make way for new features.

Independence of the Seas will return to service in May 2018, departing Southampton on a 2-night mini cruise to Le-Havre, France on 15 May 2017.
 
The changes deck by deck are as follows:

​Deck 3
Alhambra Theatre renamed Royal Theatre
Lower-level of the Raven nightclub replaced with 19 Interior staterooms
On-Air Club removed and replaced with 11 Interior staterooms
Romeo & Juliet Dining Room renamed Dining Room
 
Deck 4
Alhambra Theatre renamed Royal Theatre
The upper-level of the Raven nightclub will be replaced by the speciality dining venue Izumi
Photo Gallery & Shop replaced by Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade
Staircase in the Royal Promenade connect Deck 4-5 removed
Macbeth Dining Room renamed Dining Room
 
Deck 5
Pyramid Lounge renamed Star Lounge
Connoisseurs Lounge becomes Library & RC Online
Dog & Badger Pub renamed Ale & Anchor
Cupcake Cupboard becomes Sugar Beach Candy & Ice Cream Store
King Lear Dining Room renamed Dining Room

1 Interior stateroom added forward
Business Centre and Loyalty Deck removed replaced by 4 Interior staterooms
Presidential Family Suite replaced by 2 Grand Suites
 
Deck 7
1 Interior stateroom added forward
Library repositioned and replaced by 4 Interior staterooms
 
Deck 8
6 Interior staterooms added
RC Online repositioned and replaced by 4 Interior cabins
 
Deck 9
1 Interior stateroom added forward
Concierge Club removed and replaced by 4 Interior staterooms

3 Junior Suites added forward
1 Spacious Panoramic Ocean View stateroom added forward
2 Interior staterooms added forward
H20 Zone replaced by Splashaway Bay

Vitality At Sea Spa & Fitness Centre reduced
2 Ocean View Panoramic Suites (no balcony) added forward
38 Spacious Panoramic Ocean View staterooms added forward
4 Interior staterooms added forward
Running Track shortened
Bar (on pool deck) becomes Sky Lounge
 
Deck 13
St. Tropez removed and replaced by Independence Dunes mini golf
Sky Pad added
Independence Dunes repositioned and replaced by The Perfect Storm Waterslides
Wipeout! Removed
 
Deck 14
Cloud Nine and Seven Hearts removed and replaced by Suite Lounge

Skylight Chapel removed and replaced by Escape Room

I will be taking a 6 day cruise in August and can’t wait to see it.
