Riviera Travel Launches Godmother Competition For Its Two New River Ships

One of Britain’s leading escorted tour companies, Riviera Travel, which also specialises in river cruises, has launched a competition to find two godmothers for its two new 169-passenger river cruise ships.
 
Two travel agents will be chosen as godmother for the two new 5-star river cruise ships,  Thomas Hardy and Emily Brontë, which are due to launch in February 2017.

​The two lucky winners will be flown to the Netherlands, where the christening ceremony of the two ships will take place. The godmothers will carry out the time-honoured tradition of smashing a bottle of champagne against each of the ships’ hulls. This will be followed by a three-course meal and entertainment on board the new ships.

Ben Hitchcock, Marketing Director, Riviera Travel, said: “Despite having over 30 years of award-winning experience in the industry, this is in fact the first time we have officially christened our river cruise ships and given them their all-important Godmothers. Our travel agents are such a vital part of our business that we felt it was only right to honour them by making them the ships’ first Godmothers.”

The closing date is 03 February 2017. The naming of the two river ships will take place in Amsterdam on 24 February 2017.
