Royal Caribbean International has announced the name of its highly anticipated fifth Oasis-class cruise ship…Wonder of the Seas.
At around 230,000 gross tonnes, Wonder of the Seas will be the world’s largest cruise ship when it debut in 2021.
The announcement was made at a global cruise industry conference held in Shanghai, China. It was also announced that the new ship will sail in Asia, homeporting in Shanghai year-round. Wonder of the Seas will be the first of the Oasis-class ships to offer cruises in the Asia Pacifica region.
Michael Bayley, CEO, Royal Caribbean International, said: "Royal Caribbean is known for its innovation and constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, and an Oasis Class ship in China is proof of that. Wonder of the Seas will redefine the ultimate vacation and be revolutionary in her own right, and she marks one of Royal Caribbean’s most exciting chapters to come."
An important milestone in the construction of Wonder of the Seas also took place in Saint-Nazaire, France, as the ship’s keel was lowered into the dry dock at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard.
