Princess Cruises’ 141,000 gross tonne Royal Princess has become the first ship in the fleet to set sail with the cruise lines striking new ‘seawitch’ design on the bow of the ship.
Royal Princess underwent a refurbishment in dry dock in Palermo. Amongst the work carried out on board was the addition of a midship passenger stairwell.
The ship was launched in June 2013 in Southampton by the Duchess of Cambridge. Following the recent refurbishment, Royal Princess went back into service on 08 October, embarking guests in Civitavecchia for a 14-night transatlantic crossing to Fort Lauderdale. The ship will now spend the winter months operating cruises in the Caribbean.
Other ships in the Princess Cruises fleet are to have the ‘seawitch’ design added to their hulls overtime. The cruise line’s newest ship, Majestic Princess, a sister to Royal Princess, is due to launch in May 2017.
