Thomson Cruise has announced its summer 2018 cruise programme, unveiling that TUI Discovery will be based in the United Kingdom for the first time. The 69,130 gross tonne cruise ship will homeport from Newcastle in May 2018. The ship will offer cruises to the Norwegian Fjords and Baltic, including overnight stays in St Petersburg. In September 2018, TUI Discovery will transfer to Southampton, where four cruise itineraries will be offers, including a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords, the Baltic, North Europe and the Northern Lights.
Managing Director, Thomson Cruises Richard Sofer said: “We’re really excited about our summer 2018 programme. We have a fantastic range of destinations on offer, with a real focus on hidden gems in the Mediterranean and a little closer to home in northern Europe. The move to bring TUI Discovery to both the north and the south of the U.K. also shows our commitment to offering choice and flexibility to our customers, giving them the opportunity to sail from a region close to home, as well as offering flights to other destinations from local airports." Sister ship, TUI Discovery 2, due to join the Thomson Cruise fleet in May 2017, will offer four different cruise itineraries from Corfu Town sailing to Eastern Europe. Thomson Dream will offer cruises from Palma, Majorca. Thomson Cruises new ship will also offer cruises from Palma, Majorca. The ship is currently sailing as Mein Schiff 1. Thomson Celebration is to homeport in Dubrovnik for summer 2018 and will offer port-intensive cruises to Eastern Europe. These cruises will be for adults only. Cruises in the summer 2018 programme go on sale on 20 April 2018. TUI Discovery, TUI Discovery 2 and the new ship, will offer all-inclusive packages.
