Royal Caribbean International’s Empress of the Seas is to homeport in Tampa in summer 2017, whilst also offering cruises to Cuba.
The ship will make its first visit to Cuba on 19 April 2017, a five-night cruise from Miami. Following this cruise Empress of the Seas will be repositioned to Tampa and offer a further two calls to Cuba, comprising of a seven-night cruise departing on 30 April and a five-night cruise on 20 May.

Royal Caribbean International’s 168,666 gross tonne Ovation of the Seas has become the largest cruise ship to ever visit Australia, after arriving in Fremantle on 06 December 2016.
Ovation of the Seas is the fourth largest cruise ship in the world and is part of Royal Caribbean International Quantum Class of ships. The title for the world’s largest cruise ship belongs to the 226,963 gross tonne Harmony of the Seas, one of three ships in the cruise line’s Oasis Class. The short-lived social impact cruise line, Fathom, has announced it will stop cruise operations in 2017, just one year since it began cruises to Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
The cruise line, owned by parent company Carnival Corporation, started cruises in April 2016 and will end its cruise operations in summer 2017. The cruise line’s only ship, the 704-passenger Adonia will return to P&O Cruises. Princess Cruises has announced its largest ever UK cruise season operation for 2018, with three of its ships offering cruises from Southampton and Dover.
Five years after it was officially named by the Duchess of Cambridge, the 141,000 gross tonne Royal Princess will return to Southampton and will offer Britain Isles cruise itinerates. MSC Cruises has announced that the 2,250-passenger MSC Magnifica will cruise from Southampton in 2018.
The 91,128 gross tonne MSC Magnifica will sail from Southampton between April and November 2018, operating five different cruise itineraries. These include a 14-night sailing visiting Le Havre, La Coruna, Leixoes, Lisbon, Malaga, Amsterdam, and Hamburg. A cruise to Norway which will visit Stavanger, Bergen, Olden and Alesund, as well as a round-Britain cruise including calls to Newcastle, South Edinburgh, and Invergordon. MSC Cruises have announced details of its first ever world cruise, on board the 91,128 gross tonne MSC Magnifica, which will depart Genoa in January 2019
The 119-night westbound cruise will cover more than 32,200 nautical miles and visit 49 ports of call in 32 countries. Destinations include cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Auckland, Sydney, Singapore and Dubai, as well as exotic and paradise islands including The Caribbean, Hawaii, French Polynesia, Fiji, Sri Lanka and The Maldives. The world’s largest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas has set sail on its maiden transatlantic voyage, following its inaugural season in Europe.
Harmony of the Seas debuted in Southampton in May 2016 with a 3 and 4-night cruise followed by the official 7-night maiden voyage from Southampton to Barcelona. The ship has since been cruising the Mediterranean from Barcelona. Thomson Cruises has announced that three of its ships will cruise the Caribbean during the winter 2017/2018 cruise season.
In a prepared statement Thomson Cruises said: “"The Caribbean has long been a popular spot for cruise customers as demand for cruise holidays continues to increase year on year," Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that Norwegian Bliss will be based out of Seattle in 2018 and will operate cruises to Alaska.
The new ship is the third ship in Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Breakaway Plus class of ships and will be sister to Norwegian Escape launched in 2015 and Norwegian Joy which will launch in 2017. The 167,800 gross tonne Norwegian Bliss will begin cruising from Seattle in summer 2018 and will be the largest cruise ship to ever sail to Alaska. |
