Costa Cruises has announced that the first of its two new build LNG-powered cruise ships, which is due to launch in October 2019, will be named Costa Smeralda. The second ship will follow in 2021.
The steel cutting for the first of the two new ships, Costa Smeralda took place at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland on 13 September 2017.

Thomson Cruises has announced that Thomson Spirit will continue sailing with the cruise line for another year, due to popular customer demand, according to the cruise line.
Thomson Spirit will cruise from Palma De Mallorca in April 2018 and Malaga from May 2018. Cruises will visit the Mediterranean, visiting ports of call such as Rome, Barcelona, Lisbon, Tarragona, Mahon and Roses. Thomson Cruises has announced that its next new cruise ship is to be named TUI Explorer. The ship will join the fleet in May 2018 and will operate cruises from Palma de Mallorca.
The 1,924-passenger TUI Explorer was originally launched in 1996 as Celebrity Galaxy. Currently the vessel is known as Mein Schiff 1. Princess Cruises has taken delivery of its latest new build cruise ship, the 143,600 gross tonne Majestic Princess. The new cruise ship has been under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy and was delivery to Princess Cruises on 30 March 2017.
Majestic Princess is the first cruise ship which Princess Cruises have specifically designed from the Chinese cruise market. The 3,560-passenger ship is the third in the cruise line’s Royal-Class of ships and sister to Royal Princess and Regal Princess. Royal Caribbean International has officially announced the name of its fourth Oasis-class cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas, following months of speculations.
Symphony of the Seas is due to launch in April 2018 and Royal Caribbean have announced cruise itineraries for the new ship, which are now available to book. Royal Caribbean International is to announce details about the 2018 – 2019 deployment for its fleet, which currently consists of 25 cruise ships, with an additional six new build cruise ships due to launch between 2018 and 2024.
The deployment of the Royal Caribbean International’s ships is expected to be announced in phases throughout March 2017 and April 2017. The opening scheduled for 2018 – 2019 deployment is as follows: Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced the deployment of its fleet of four ultra-luxury cruise ships, for 2018 and early 2019, offering a total of 113 different cruise itineraries. The ultra-luxury cruise ships will visit a total of 28 maiden ports of call.

There is no better inclusive-luxury experience than Regent and we look forward to sharing the world with our guests.” Carnival Cruise Line has announced that its latest new cruise ship, Carnival Horizon, will offer cruises from Barcelona, New York and Miami during its maiden season next year.
The 133,500 gross tonne cruise ship will depart on its maiden voyage from Barcelona on 02 April 2018 and cruise the Mediterranean. Unlike her sister ship the Carnival Vista, the newer ship will offer just four cruises from Barcelona. The ship will then cross the Atlantic Ocean to New York in May 2018. The new ultra-luxury cruise ship, Seabourn Ovation which is due to launch in April 2018, will spend her debut season cruising the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
Seabourn has announced that the maiden voyage of the new 40,350 gross tonne ship will depart Venice on 05 May 2018. The 35-day cruise will visit 27 ports of call, including Dubrovnik, Valletta, Barcelona and the Isles of Scilly and Dartmouth in the United Kingdom. The cruise will end in Amsterdam. AIDA Cruises has announced that its newest cruise ship, the AIDAperla will be launching two months earlier than planned and will arrive in the Western Mediterranean in July 2017.
The 124,700 gross tonne ship will arrive in Palma de Mallorca on 01 July 2017 and offer seven-night cruises, visiting Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Corsica and Livorno. |
