Disney Cruise Line's Disney Magic at sea Another of our most recently assigned Cruise Ship Drawings is set to be taken aboard the vessel, where it shall hopefully be present to the Captain. Our newest and youngest 'Volunteer @ Sea', Ben is due to sail aboard Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic later this year during the early part of August and has generously agreed to present our drawing to the Captain, on behalf of Dream Designs Colchester. In November 2010 Dream Designs Colchester especially assigned a Cruise Ship Drawing of Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the 124,000 tonne Disney Dream. We wrote to Karl Holz, President, Disney Cruise Line, to offer to send our drawing of the vessel to him. Sometime later in early 2011 we received a response from Disney Cruise Line, on behalf of Karl Holz, President, Disney Cruise Line. We were informed by Disney Cruise Line that unfortunately due to their long established policy, they would be unable to accept our drawing. The intention of this policy is to avoid any misunderstanding when projects are being created internally or current being worked on which might be similar to submissions made to Disney Cruise Line from outside their company. For this reason, they were unable to accept our offer to send them our drawing of Disney Dream. However, Disney Cruise Line did acknowledge our accomplishments and wished us all the very best in the future. They also sent us a number of photographs of the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic. Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester, said: " Although we acknowledge and appreciate this policy, we hope that the Captain and crew aboard Disney Magic, might give our 'Volunteer @ Sea', Ben the opportunity to present our drawing to the them. However, if we are unable to present our drawing to the Captain or crew aboard Disney Magic, will shall endeavour to find another suitable location for the drawing." Our ‘Volunteer @ Sea’, Ben shall board Disney Magic in Barcelona, along with his parents on August 6th 2011 and cruise the Mediterranean for 7 nights. During this time we hope that Ben will be lucky enough to have the opportunity to present our Cruise Ship Drawing to the Captain of the 83,000 tonne vessel. 'Volunteer @ Sea', Ben, said: "It is a pleasure to be one of Dream Design Colchester’s 'Volunteers @ Sea'. I have always been a huge fan of theirs and now to be given the opportunity to represent them by presenting drawings to various ships is an honour. " He added: " To present the drawing to the Captain and the crew of the Disney Magic will be a unique and exciting experience and a way for us to show gratitude to them as they work so hard." ENDS

Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegain Pearl at sea After a number of weeks Dream Designs Colchester are pleased to be able to take this opportunity update you on the progress of our Cruise Ship Drawing of Norwegian Pearl. Our drawing of Norwegian Pearl departed Dream Designs Colchester a number of months ago, when it was sent to our ‘Volunteers @ Sea’, John & Marilyn, who live in Seattle in the United States. John & Marilyn were originally due to present our drawing to the Captain on behalf of Dream Designs Colchester, during their 7 night cruise aboard the vessel last month. Unfortunately our drawing encountered a delay in shipping and did not arrive in time for John & Marilyn to be able to present the drawing to the Captain during their cruise. However, whilst aboard Norwegian Pearl, our ‘Volunteers @ Sea’, John & Marilyn were able to meet with Matthhias Holz, Hotel Director aboard Norwegian Pearl, who later contacted Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester. Matthias Holz, Hotel Director, Norwegian Pearl , said: " I have just learned about you and your amazing story! We are all very impressed about your drawing you have made of our beautiful Norwegian Pearl and are very excited, as we have been informed by a passenger named Mr. Shulman that you are planning to send this drawing as a gift/present to us onboard." Matthias Holz, Hotel Director, Norwegian Pearl, added: " Unfortunately, I am leaving for vacation but ensure you that we will stay in contact with you and Mr. Shulman to make all necessary arrangements and to find the perfect spot onboard to display your artwork! We also have been on your website and feel honored to be selected by you making drawings from our ships." Our ‘Volunteer @ Sea’, John, has since been in contact with the current Hotel Director aboard Norwegian Pearl and has been invited aboard the vessel on July 17th 2011, along with his wife Marilyn whilst the ship is berthed in their home town of Seattle. During the visit John & Marilyn will be able to present our drawing to the ship on our behalf, although it is not yet sure whether the Captain will be able to receive it in person. We have also been informed that the onboard photographer shall be there to capture the official drawing presentation. John & Marilyn have also been invited to enjoy lunch onboard. Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester, said: " I am delighted that Norwegian Cruise Line have been kind enough to invited our 'Volunteers @ Sea' John & Marilyn aboard Norwegian Pearl, whilst docked in Seattle, to allow the official presentation our Cruise Ship Drawing of Norwegian Pearl to take place. All of us at Dream Designs Colchester would like to extend our appreciation to Norwegian Cruise Line for making this possible." ENDS

This is the second time during the course of 2011 that Southampton has seen this many cruise ships berth simultaneously. In January 2011 Southampton saw Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, Black Watch, Balmoral, Saga Ruby and Arcadia berthed together, the first time this number cruise ships had been seen in the port together for close to 50 years. On July 16th 2011 an extravaganza of cruise ships will meet in Southampton, including Venutra, Celebrity Eclipse, Grand Princess, Crown Princess, Balmoral and Artania which recently left the P&O Cruises fleet, previously know as Artemis. The day set to be a spectacular event for maritime enthusiasts with many onlookers expected to turn out to see the ships in port and depart their berths together that afternoon. Dream Designs Colchester plan to visit Southampton to join in the event and watch the six cruise ships depart their berths. Further more in June 2012 Cunard Line’s Royal Rendezvous will take place to celebrate the Diamond Jubliee of Her Majesty The Queen. The following month ‘The Grand Event’ shall take place, where the entire P&O Cruises fleet will berth in Southampton together, an event on a scale which has never been seen before. We are currently working very hard to find time within our schedule to assign six brand new cruise ship drawings, for each of the six ships that will be berthed in Southampton for the Six Ship Extravaganza! Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester, said: " The Six Ship Extravaganza will be an astonishing event for Southampton and we are very excited to be able to join the many onlookers to watch the six ships depart their berths." He added: " It is wonderful for me to be given such an opportunity to draw each of the six ships, for such an important event in the maritime world." ENDS
