Our Volunteer @ Sea, Peter with Captain David Pembridge On March 26th 2013 our Volunteer @ Sea, Peter officially presented one of our latest especially assigned drawings to the Master of P&O Cruises’ Oriana. Peter is the newest member to join our exclusive team of Volunteers @ Sea. These carefully selected and knowledgeable individuals work on behalf of Dream Designs Colchester, regularly presenting our drawings on our behalf during their very own cruises. Peter embarked aboard Oriana in Southampton on March 18th 2013, before the ship departed marking the start of the 10 night Atlantic Coast cruise. Upon boarding Oriana, Peter handed over a letter which we had put together for him to hand over at reception, which was addressed to the Master of Oriana, Captain David Pembridge requesting permission to meet with him to officially present our drawing on our behalf. On the 7th night of the cruise, our Volunteer @ Sea, Peter received a note from the Captain inviting Peter and his wife to meet with him personally on March 26th 2013. Peter went to reception to confirm the meeting would be convenient. He was instructed to go to Deck 10 forward on the Starboard side of the ship. On March 26th 2013, Peter and his wife Sarah made their way to the location they had been instructed to by reception 2 days previously. At 11:00 they were met by the Captain and invited into the Captain’s Lounge, where our Volunteer @ Sea, Peter was given the opportunity to officially present our especially assigned drawing of Oriana. Captain David Pembridge was extremely welcoming and before the official drawing presentation took place he mentioned the previous drawing presentation aboard Aurora which was presented to him by our Volunteers @ Sea, Ernie & Edna in December 2010. The Captain also confirmed with Peter that the drawing of Aurora was indeed displayed aboard the vessel as thought and is situated in the Captain’s Office behind the desk. Following their conversation Peter then took the opportunity to unveil and officially present our especially assigned drawing of Oriana, together with the presentation card. Also present for the presentation was the ship’s on board photographer and from all accounts the Captain seemed genuinely impressed with our drawing. Volunteer @ Sea, Peter, said: “Presenting Harry's drawing of Oriana to Captain Pembridge was a very enjoyable event. It was a pleasure to meet Oriana's Master in the Captain's Lounge and to be photographed with him during the presentation. He seemed genuinely impressed with this drawing and stated that he would have to find a suitable space, on board, where it would be displayed.” He added: “This was my first drawing presentation as a Volunteer @ Sea, on behalf of Dream Designs Colchester, and I am already looking forward to the next.” The Captain was kind enough to send us an email to say thank you for our drawing and also attached a photograph from the drawing presentation which the ship’s photographer had captured. The Master of Oriana, Captain David Pembridge, said: “Thank you very much for the drawing of Oriana. It is very detailed and even includes our new ‘duck tail’. I will now try to find a suitable location for it (the drawing of Aurora was on the bulkhead behind my desk in my office).” This particular official drawing presentation was of great significance to Dream Designs Colchester as Oriana was the 50th ship which our drawings have now been presented aboard. Next week we will be publishing a SPECIAL BLOG celebrating this momentous milestone. Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to our Volunteer @ Sea, Peter for successfully presenting our drawing of Oriana to the Captain. I would also like to congratulate Peter on completing his first drawing presentation on behalf of Dream Designs Colchester.” He added: “It was a great pleasure and privilege to have our drawing officially presented aboard another member of the P&O Cruises fleet. We are very proud and of our close connection and friendship with P&O cruises, and I would subsequently therefore like to extend my utmost appreciation and thanks to everyone at P&O Cruises and Captain David Pembridge.” He continued: “The presentation of our drawing aboard P&O Cruises’ Oriana was a momentous milestone for Dream Designs Colchester as Oriana is the 50th ship which our drawings have been presented aboard. We will mark this occasion with a special blog next week, looking back at all 50 drawing presentations.” You can see even more by visiting the new 'March 26th 2013' page in the 'Our History' section of our website!!!ENDS
