Our next cruise is very nearly here already! On 31 August 2018 Gavin and I will embark the charming little 550-passenger cruise ship Astoria in Poole, Dorset for our three-night cruise.
Astoria will set sail from Poole at 1 O’clock in the afternoon. It is not very often that cruise ships sail from the harbour and it will be the first time we’ve ever sailed from Poole so we’re really looking forward to it.
Just an hour or so after departing Poole, Astoria will anchor off the coast of Bournemouth, giving us and all the other passengers the chance to watch the Bournemouth International Air Show. What better viewpoint could you ask for!?
Later that evening the ship will head across the English Channel to Honfleur, where we will dock early the following morning. Neither Gavin nor I have ever been here before so it will be another new port of call and experience for us. Astoria departs Honfleur that afternoon cruising down the River Seine to Rouen where the ship will dock that night. We have a whole 23 hours in Rouen, staying overnight and departing the following evening, so we have plenty of time to explore! I have been to Rouen once before but Gavin has not. We are really looking forward to stepping back on board Astoria again. We cruised on Astoria last year on another three-night cruise and absolutely fell in love with the ship and friendly crew. Now we’re just hoping the weather is good for the Bournemouth International Air Show and that we get a good vantage point on deck whilst at anchor. You never can tell what the British weather has in store!
