We couldn’t resist this one! When we thought we had already booked the shortest (by distance) cruise possible, this one then came up and we just had to go for it!
Earlier this year we booked an overnight cruise on Marco Polo. The cruise departs Harwich and sails to Tilbury, which is literally just down the coast. But then a little while later Cruise & Maritime Voyages announced some additional cruises on Astoria for 2018, one of which was an overnight cruise.
The one-night Special Gala Cruise on Astoria departs Poole and sails around the Isle of Wight to Portsmouth, quite possibly shorter than the cruise we had booked on Marco Polo. The idea of slowly cruising out of Poole harbour around the Isle of Wight as the sunsets (hopefully the weather is as good as I’m picturing it) was just too good to resist.
Plus, we adored the lovely little Astoria when we cruised on her for three nights earlier this year to Amsterdam and Antwerp. The ship has so much charm and the crew and ever so friendly and welcoming. She's none of the amazing amenities the much bigger ships have but the food is equally and good and there's still plenty to entertain you. So we’ve already gone ahead and booked our place on board. We’ve got a little wait though as the cruise doesn’t depart until September 2018. We’d love to have some of you join us on board for the Special Gala Cruise! We hope to see you on board Astoria.
